Laborer

What They Do

Laborers must have common knowledge of all work performed by building tradespeople because they are the tenders and helpers in the industry. They operate and maintain power tools such as chainsaws, tampering machines, concrete vibrator, chipping hammers and explosives.

Working Conditions

Laborers are exposed to all weather conditions and are asked to work at great heights and depths. Their work includes a lot of bending, walking, standing, lifting and carrying.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18
  • Physically capable of performing work
  • Math, mechanical drawing and blueprint reading recommended

Application Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Evaluation test
  • Personal interview

Apprenticeship

• 3 year program
