What They DoPainters prepare buildings, bridges and other surfaces and apply paint and other coatings by means of brushes, rollers and sprayers. Painters also work on interior rooms using paint and wall coverings. Mixing paints and using sandblasting and water blasting equipment is also a job requirement. Working ConditionsPainters work both indoors and outdoors and may be required to work evenings and weekends. Work may be seasonal and could possibly include health hazards. Scaffolds and ladders are used often. Painters are often standing, bending, climbing and working with their arms above their head. Qualifications
