What They Do Plasterers are the building craftsmen who apply plaster to interior walls and ceilings to form fire-resistant and relatively soundproof surfaces, which may then be decorated. They also apply stucco to exterior walls (exterior insulation finish system) and cast ornamental designs in plaster. Working Conditions Some of the work is done outdoors and depends on weather conditions. While most plastering jobs are indoors, sometimes plasterers work on high scaffolds. Plastering requires considerable standing, bending, lifting and reaching overhead. Interest and Temperament The trade requires good manual skills. Persons should enjoy working with their hands and accept working outdoors in various weather conditions. General Qualifications
