Purpose and ObjectivesThe Construction Employers Association’s (CEA) Board of Directors approved as a new affiliate association in 2008, the Contractors Assistance Association (CAA). CAA works in partnership with the construction industry, civic and community organizations and is charged to find, develop and/or improve opportunities for minority and majority contractors and City of Cleveland residents. CAA mission is to further develop resources to increase contracting, education, and employment in the Northeast Ohio Construction Industry.
Three initials goals were developed: (1) Assist the Construction Employers Association and Associated General Contractors of Ohio / Cleveland in increasing awareness of employment opportunities including complying with the City of Cleveland’s Fannie Lewis Law. (2) The creation of a Construction Management Academy Program (CMAP) in collaboration with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) and Cuyahoga Community College, which will provide industry related professional education / training to increase the supply of motivated students to join the Construction Industry. (3) The development of a Mentor Protégé program to support minority and female contractors in business management, estimating, safety and technical assistance, including development of contractor/subcontractor and joint venture relationships. This is a win- win opportunity for firms to work together to develop additional business. MembershipAcme Arsena Co., Inc.
