School to Career

CEA/CISP staff continued their participation in School-to-Career activities supported by both Ohio and Federal grants. CISP representatives are on the School-to-Career General Advisory Council for the 1997-1998 school year as well as work-based committee and connecting activities. A major goal is to provide all students with the opportunity for workplace experience which will enhance the career decision making process.

Junior Constructor for a Day

CEA and the Construction Industry Service Program have been very active in various programs designed to introduce quality prospects to job and career opportunities in the construction industry.

Another aspect of finding capable men and women to apply for entrance into apprenticeship programs or pursue a construction related college degree is providing a construction on-site experience to people so they get a better idea of what’s it all about.

CEA/CISP is working with representatives of the Ohio Contractors Association to set up field trips on a regular basis for 5 to 7 students from Cleveland area schools as part of the Junior Constructor for a Day program. Students will visit construction projects, take a tour, ask questions; and hopefully pursue a career in construction.  If you are interested in participating in this program please call CEA's Executive Director of Industry Services, Mark Laskey at (216) 398-9860.
