The Construction Employers Association (CEA) is well known throughout the Midwest and the construction industry, in general, for its outstanding safety services. The following are the major components of CEA's comprehensive services: Construction Industry Service Program (CISP) - The Construction Employers Association has administered the Construction Industry Service Program (CISP) since 1967. CISP serves the industry in northeast Ohio by its many educational, training, crime prevention and safety programs designed to increase skills, abilities, and safety awareness. Construction Safety Council (CSC) - The CSC seeks to sponsor and promote safety in the construction industry through educational activities and to provide a forum for safety and health information, and networking in local communities. Safety Incentive Program (SIP) - Labor and management initiated an innovative program, probably the first of its kind in the country, that offers safety awards to 15,000 craftspersons in northeast Ohio who work a specific number of hours, without lost time due to an accident or illness. There are quarterly awards and an annual award of a new pick-up truck. Over $300,000 has been spent on the SIP program to date. A Substance Abuse Program has been negotiated with the unions of the building and construction trades to have a uniform plan to establish and maintain a drug free, alcohol free, safe, healthy work environment for all employees. A portable Substance Abuse Testing Trailer is available at no cost for pre-employment drug testing on the jobsite. However, a lab fee for CDL testing per participant is at the contractor's cost. Safety and Health Awareness - The association stresses the importance of prevention and avoidance of costly job injuries. Our safety and education specialists keep members abreast of changing government regulations. They visit job sites, when invited, to check for potential safety and health violations, provide all required government posters, offer assistance at hearings when members are cited by OSHA inspectors and develop safety training programs. CISP carries the safety message to a contractor's shop or job site with the Operation Safe Site vans. Over 250 modern videotapes are available to train employees on specific safety topics. Crime Prevention Program - CEA members are provided "complimentary posters and decals" to members to help deter crime and theft on job sites. Also, we provide reward posters to members that state up to "$5,000 Reward" for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone caught stealing or vandalizing on a job site.
