Walleye Contest

CEA/CISP Walleye Tourney Nets Record Catch!

Forty people fished for walleye in the Eleventh Annual CEA/CISP Walleye Tournament out of Port Clinton, OH on Saturday, June 16, 2007. CEA/CISP contractors and friends arrived in Port Clinton on Friday evening and enjoyed a perch dinner with wonderful door prizes donated by several companies including VIP Restoration, Donley’s, First Energy and CEA. Hudson Workwear contributed t-shirts commemorating the eleventh year of the event.

Carlos Figueroa, Jr. of Donleys and Elmer Mekker of VIP Restoration emceed the event and assisted with the distribution of door prizes. A raffle for a $200 rod and reel combo with “CEA Walleye Tournament” printed on the handle and an underwater video camera wrapped up the evenings entertainment.

Anglers had to be on their boats by 7 AM Saturday and had to be in by 3 PM. In 2006, the total weight of walleye caught was 186 pounds – we doubled that catch with the same number of boats in 2007 for a total of 368 pounds!

Tournament Prizes went to the following:

  • First Walleye: Chuck Weyrick, First Energy, 7:34 AM – Tabletop propane heater
  • Most Walleye: Dwayne Lucky, Donley’s, 14 – TomTom ONE Portable GPS Unit
  • Team Prize: Boat named “Celtic” with the team from South Shore Electric including Paul Zielazienski, Bob Hardway, Bob Hogue and Jim Kulon, and Steve Kinn of CEA. The team prize included a new spinning rod and reel for each member of the team.
  • Largest Walleye: Bob Hogue, South Shore Electric, 27 ˝”, Portable MP3/Video Player
  • Most Unusual: Mike Hess, Donley’s, 14” Windshield Wiper Blade, Sony PSP – There’s a Ted Kennedy joke in there somewhere.

Special thanks to all those who participated in this year’s event and all the fine organizations for their generous support and door prize contributions. We are already looking forward to next year.
