Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a growing element of construction. Owners are requiring the use of the LEED rating system for their new and renovated facilities because they want to construct the best environments for their employees, customers and visitors.

In 2017, reducing the cost of facility operations, occupant health and the environment are business imperatives. Understanding the principles of LEED and green buildings allows construction companies and individuals to identify opportunities to address the concerns of their project owners.

The LEED rating system is designed to address the following areas of construction:

  • Building an integrated project team
  • Energy management
  • Improving air quality
  • Water management
  • Impacts of material management
