Presenter: Sergeant Brad Borowy of the Independence Police Department.
Topic: K-9 Unit
The City of Independence Police Department has a K9 unit which has specific tasks. These tasks are related to search and rescue, seizure, and other various duties assigned by the department. The relationship between a police dog and his or her handler requires a closeness and ability to communicate and work together well as a team. A judicious obedience to hand-signals, voice commands, and pre-meditated training procedures is required from the dog. Patrolmen Jim Green and his German Shepherd K-9 Paddo will demonstrate these skills to our safety council members at this meeting.
Toys-for-Tots Donations:
We would like to ask your help in joining us to promote some Christmas cheer by bringing a toy (valued at $5.00 and up) to the Safety Council meeting this month, to support Toys-for-Tots. The Construction Safety Council will then match $5.00 per each toy our members bring to this meeting. Toy(s) should not be wrapped. If you will be donating with a check, please make check payable to "Toys-for-Tots."
