Consulting Engineer (Bridge)
Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility
- Perform numerous duties such as request for proposal, consultant selection, administration of plan development process or in-house design, construction document preparation, bid process administration, preparation of legal agreements, claims negotiation, project reporting, project liaison with the neighborhood, compliance with regulatory requirements, grant writing.
- Prepare/obtain annual safety inspections for City owned bridges (89 bridges)
Additional Areas of Responsibility
- Experience in the design of bridge is required or bridge inspection Level I and II combined with bridge design for 5 plus years' experience.
- Has successfully completed Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) approved comprehensive bridge inspection training.
- Has completed periodic bridge inspection refresher training according to State of Ohio policy.
Other Information/Requirements
A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required. Four years of full time paid engineering or construction experience in the design or construction of roads and bridges is required. Must have a State of Ohio Professional Engineer's License. (Substitution: Must have a temporary Professional Engineer License at the time of hire in which case, must have a permanent license within 90 days of the issuance of such temporary license.) A valid State of Ohio Driver's License is required.
