Engineer - 1st shift position

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility

The Cleveland Museum of Art is seeking an Engineer who  operates and maintains stationary engines and mechanical equipment such as steam engines, air compressors, generators, motors, turbines and steam boilers to provide utilities such as light, heat or power for building.
This is a 1st shift position working Saturday - Wednesday.
This position is a Bargaining Unit position.

Additional Areas of Responsibility
  • Records data such as temperature of equipment, hours of operation, fuel consumed, temperature or pressure, water levels, analysis of flue gases, voltage load and generator balance 
  • Visually inspects equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustment or lubrication, including fire equipment and sprinklers and kitchen appliances 
Other Information/Requirements
  • Maintains equipment by tightening fittings, re-packing bearings, replacing packing glands, gaskets, vales, recorders and gauges and cleaning or replacing burners or other components 
  • Installs new equipment as needed  
  • Oils and lubricates equipment; removes moisture from compressors 
  • Performs plumbing services as needed; includes restrooms, drains and sewage systems 
  • Records operation and maintenance actions taken during shift in operators logbook 
  • Changes light bulbs inside and outside the building
