The 2019 construction season is officially under way in District 12 of the Ohio Department of Transportation. This year, the distract has 29 new construction projects worth approximately $100 million across District 12’s three-county region, which includes Cuyahoga, Geauga and Lake counties.

This year, ODOT wants to remind all motorists to use caution when driving through construction zones. Sadly, 14 people were killed in work zones last year, including ODOT’s own John Pasko. In 2018, 961 people were injured in work zone crashes and there were a total of 4,662 work zone crashes in Ohio. Since 2015, the number of crashes has been declining. The top two factors in work zone crashes are rear end crashes and following too closely."
