Building a Premier School in Downtown Cleveland

The CMSD Board of Education is set to vote on a resolution on 5/14 at 6pm at the School Board HQ on East 6th Street to set aside the proceeds from the sale of our current headquarters downtown in order to plan and build a new school in downtown Cleveland. This resolution was proposed in order to recognize that, when the school board voted over 80 years ago to become part of the Group Plan, they were making a decision that was critical to the development and future of the City of Cleveland.  While times have changed and our central offices are no longer the best fit for the Group Plan (nor is the building the best fit for our offices), the current school board should strive to be as visionary about spending the proceeds from the sale on something that could have as broad of an impact on Cleveland’s future as the Group Plan did in the 20th Century.  Reasons that a downtown school make sense include:
