Kent State CM Program Receives Full ACCE Accreditation

From Mark Mistur, AIA, Dean of Kent State University's College of Architecture and Environmental Design:

The Kent State Bachelor of Science in Construction Management received a full 5-year initial accreditation by the American Council of Construction Educators (ACCE). Joining over 75 accredited Baccalaureate programs across the United States, including the largest and most prestigious, ACCE is the standard by which Construction Management programs are measured.  Kent State is honored to achieve this accreditation and join the ranks of the most successful and esteemed Construction Management programs.     

The primary goal of ACCE is to promote and improve construction education in colleges and universities.  The organization represents and works in the interest of the total construction community and public at large, including construction educators and constructors, to establish and maintain standards and criteria for accreditation, provide guidance to those programs seeking to achieve accredited status, and carry out the accreditation process. 

With this accreditation, Kent State’s Construction Management program has confirmed its excellence in educating the future leaders of the Construction industry. Our students will continue to integrate all components of the built environment, utilizing state-of-the-art techniques, practices, and technologies, while working on some of the world’s most exciting projects.  This accreditation will help attract future industry leaders to our program and prepare them in an excellent way once they arrive.  

Congratulations to all of those who worked on and/or supported this endeavor.  In particular, I want to congratulate program coordinator George Bigham, and construction management faculty members Joe Karpinski, Simon Adamtey, Lameck Onsarigo, and Anthony Mirando who worked diligently and effectively together to ensure that the program was well prepared and well represented.  We look forward to continued growth, a rising reputation and many new and exciting opportunities as a result.
