Women in Construction: Ashley Tiano

Body

As a part of Women in Construction (WIC) week, March 4-10, 2018, we are highlighting the contributions of local women in the industry. The following interview is with Ashley Tiano, Project Engineer at Infinity Construction and Vice President of NAWIC Cleveland, who has worked in the construction industry for 5 years.

How did you begin your career?

I always had an interest in construction and design. I went to school for Auto CAD and decided to continue at Kent State for Architecture. I changed majors to Construction Management with help of great mentors. Best decision I've made. It's exciting!

What attracted you to the construction industry?

I love the ever-changing world of construction. No matter how much you know, there is always more to learn and more challenges. Organized chaos that I love.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Seeing the evolution of a project. Getting to see an idea come to life and know that you had a part in that is amazing. It's exciting to see it for years after the project as well.

Best advice:

Always be open to learning. Don't be afraid to ask questions.

Best experience:

In the construction industry, NAWIC has been one of the best experiences. Having the support and encouragement of strong women is great. It's also fulfiling to pass that on to younger kids and get them excited about construction.
