Beyond the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (H.C.A.H.P.S.) survey that is typically used, patients are also using a more casual alternative these days: Yelp. One might not be inclined to take these types of reviews seriously, but they do share important information about the patient and family experience, Aaron E. Carroll reports for The New York Times.
...a majority of reviews were positive. They noted, however, that patients reported on aspects of care that extended beyond the patient-physician encounter. They were concerned about staff, access to the hospital and convenience."
