DON DREIER - GUARDIAN AWARD 2022

Executive Vice Presidnet - Donley's Inc.

Don Dreier epitomized the values, professionalism and service the Guardian Award seeks to honor.

Don Dreier began his career with Donley’s in 1978 as a co-op and joined the company after graduating college in 1982. He advanced quickly from formwork detailer, estimator, field engineer, to project manager. Having developed his skills within the Donley’s organization and possessing a thorough knowledge of the company and its goals, he became its Executive Vice President in 1996.

Don has always been a great leader and looks for what’s best for the people around him. His “never resting” work ethic consistently improves the industry and the community around him. He is passionate about union construction and ensuring that good people are hired to do the work with quality and care. Don was always passionate about making sure the unions were bringing people in and training them properly, so that when they are in the field, the product they are building is of the best quality.

Don served the industry as a member of the AGC of Ohio, Cleveland Division, Carpenter Contractors Association, Contractors Assistance Association, Labor Steering and Legislative Committees, the Ohio Carpenters Pension & Annuity Fund, the Ohio Carpenters Joint Apprenticeship and Training Trust, as well as bargaining committees for negotiations with the Carpenters, Cement Masons, Laborers, and Operating Engineers. He served as President of the Associated General Contractors of Ohio in 2009 and as CEA Board Chairman from 2014 to 2016, CEA’s centennial. He is well respected in the industry, both by the unions and the contractors.

Honest, always fair and levelheaded in negotiations, his peers sometimes asked “what would Don do?”, and his influence and leadership at CEA had a lasting impact.
