Methods and practices involved in installing, repairing and maintaining a variety of electric and hydraulic elevators, escalators and moving walks. Fundamental mechanical and electrical principles as they apply to elevators and similar controls. Stages of construction when possible violations and defects may most easily be observed and corrected. Licensed elevator inspectors must pass a written and practical exam administered by NAESA or another nationally recognized entity. QEI certification can be maintained by licensed inspector by attending one function through NAESA (usually a 16 hour class) annually, by paying the renewal fee and passing a written test. To renew certification, a copy of current card from NAESA must be submitted.
