Akron Legislation Passes Unanimously

Three construction-related pieces of legislation were recently passed in Akron:

ORD. NO. 412-2016 amending/supplementing Title 9 “General Provisions,” Chapter 104 “Income Tax Ordinance,” Section 104.113 “Authority of the Tax Administrator; Right to Examine,” to codify the authorization of the Tax Administrator to accept information from third parties regarding Contractor Registration in accordance with the recommendations of the Blue Ribbon Task Force; and declaring an emergency. VOTE: 10-0 (Freeman, Milkovich & Neal abstained)

ORD. NO. 413-2016 amending/supplementing Title 19 “Building Code,” Chapter 190 “General Provisions,” Article 2 “Project Permits” to require all building construction contractors to register with the Director of Public Service prior to obtaining a building permit and to transfer a copy of any building permit to the Tax Administrator in accordance with the recommendations of the Blue Ribbon Task Force; and declaring an emergency. VOTE: 10-0 (Freeman, Milkovich & Neal abstained)

ORD. NO. 414-2016 amending/supplementing Title 19 “Building Code,” Chapter 190 “General Provisions” to enact Article 4 “Building Contractor Registration” to require all building construction contractors to register with the Director of Public Service prior to undertaking or performing work in the City of Akron for which a permit is required in accordance with the recommendations of the Blue Ribbon Task Force; and declaring an emergency. VOTE: 10-0 (Freeman, Milkovich & Neal abstained)
