A recent expansion at the Cleveland-area headquarters office of The Austin Co., which provides architectural design, engineering, design-build, construction management and construction services, added 7,000 square feet and 18 people to the operation."

The office, 6095 Parkland Blvd. in Mayfield Heights, now is about 26,000 square feet, an Austin spokeswoman said in an email. The new office space houses Austin's corporate accounting department and senior executives. With the additional 18 employees, the office has 106 people.

In a news release, Austin said the expansion "complements renovation projects Austin completed late last year to add collaboration and gathering spaces to its existing office and upgrade technology throughout the office."

The cost of the expansion was not disclosed.

"As one of Cleveland's oldest companies, we are always working to stay on the cutting edge. Some of the improvements we have made in recent years have helped drive our growth and this expansion," said Mike Pierce, president of Austin, in a statement.

He added, "When we considered this expansion, we wanted to include a training and conference center. Our business is collaborative by nature, so having spaces to support collaboration is important."

Austin said it already is "investigating options for potential future expansion" of the local office.
