Future Executives Committee

Body
CEA's Kent Crytzer, CSP, recently briefed the Committee on how to handle an OSHA inspection and OSHA's new Silica Code.

Whether it's touring an apprenticeship training center or learning about best practices for LinkedIn, the Future Executives Committee always seeks to expand their knowledge, experience and professional network. For their July meeting, the committee took the opportunity to sharpen their knowledge of construction safety procedures.

This month's featured speaker was CEA's Safety Director, Kent Crytzer, who presented an overview of OSHA inspections. He explained what brings OSHA to the jobsite, how to handle an inspection, and the importance of training employees on company protocol. Crytzer also gave an overview of the silica code, which will begin to be enforced on September 23rd. He shared resources that CEA has developed, such as the silica sampling and objective data program, so that contractors can be prepared before enforcement begins.

Committee members also participated in an interactive survey via text messaging, with real-time results shown on the screen. Questions ranged from office location to ways to give back to the community, to personality type and what they learned from the safety presentation.
