Governor Kasich Signs Law Against Residency Programs
Leila Atassi of Cleveland.com reports on what this new law means for Cleveland:
Ohio Gov. John Kasich last week signed a law effectively shutting down Cleveland's longstanding requirement that contractors on public construction projects include local residents in their workforce. House Bill 180, which was one of a dozen bills that Kasich signed last Friday, bans governments from enacting local hiring laws, such as Cleveland's."
CEA consistently voiced its support to KEEP residency programs and the importance for local control of these issues.
Along with other construction associations and the Building Trades, CEA testified against this legislation.
