House Delays Vote on Anti-Local Resident Bill

The Columbus Dispatch writes that the Ohio House of Representatives has delayed a vote on legislation that would take away local officials' ability to ensure that local construction projects are performed by local citizens. 

CEA has been against this harmful legislation from the beginning, but supporters of local resident initiatives have faced strong opposition from other industry groups. The article states 

The bill prohibiting cities from requiring that a certain percentage of workers live within city limits on public projects has drawn support from the state’s top two business advocates — the Ohio Chamber of Commerce and NFIB Ohio — plus the Ohio Contractors Association and the International Union of Operating Engineers.
