What does your company do?

We are construction manager, general contractors, and design-builders.

What is your favorite part of your job and why?

As someone with a project management background, I really enjoy helping our project teams develop their project strategy and helping our staff with their professional development.

What has been the key to your company's success?

Our success comes from the efforts of the people that work at AMHigley, focusing on our core markets where we can add expertise, and always doing the right thing. We promote 5 core values and believe that following these principles defines who we are and leads to success: People, Ethics, Respect, Commitment, and Excellence.

What important changes/ initiatives are you working on right now?

We recently switched project management and accounting systems to a new ERP system. This allows our staff to be more efficient and to deliver better reporting. We spent a lot of time evaluating software options and developing a training program to be ready for the transition and are now implementing that change.

How does your company find and retain talent?

We have great clients and projects that are exciting to be a part of. We have found success in recruiting co-ops and college graduates and providing opportunities for career growth and advancement.

What advice would you give to someone just starting their career in construction?

You will be faced with things every day that you haven't experienced before. That's part of the excitement of construction - every day has new challenges. Use them to learn. Be a sponge. But don't be afraid to challenge the status quo. This is an industry that is slow to make change and is in need of fresh ideas for improvement.

What CEA initiatives have you been involved with?

I have been a member of the Future Executives Committee, and was Chair in 2022.
