VA Loses Right to Oversee Own Construction Programs Over $100M

After some political wrangling, Congress has approved $625 million in additional spending to complete construction at the $1.675 billion Veterans Affairs hospital in Aurora, Colo. The project was originally estimated to cost $604 million and is seriously over budget. The measure contains a provision removing the VA from oversight of projects that cost $100 million or more, and putting the Army Corps of Engineers in charge.
