Fatima Ware is a Certified HVAC mechanic with 9 years of experience. Her experience in the building trades is highlighted by her accomplishments as a journeyman sheet metal worker. Fatima’s impressive career in the construction field includes working on a myriad of projects in the Greater Cleveland area such as University Hospital, Case Western Reserve University, Global Center for Health Innovation & Convention Center, Health Education Campus (HEC) of the Cleveland Clinic along with several Cleveland and Lorain Public School building projects. As a valued and dedicated member of the recreation fund of the Cleveland District Sheet Metal Workers Local #33 for three years, Fatima has assisted in spearheading a variety of events and activities with excellence. She started and is the chair of the women’s committee for her local union. Fatima is a native Clevelander and member of CEA, and SMACNA.

Since opening her construction company WTD, an HVAC company in 2017, her business has been on projects such as Quicken Loans Arena, Cuyahoga Community College, MetroHealth, CMHA and other smaller projects. 

What brought or attracted you to the construction industry?

To have an opportunity to be active, build things with my hands and contribute to parts of history that will last for years to come. Some buildings may last after I am long gone.

What do you like most about your work?

Looking at a completed building and knowing that I was part of the process.

What would you like to see change within the construction industry?

I would like for it to be more diverse.

What are your long term career goals?

To have my company be national.

What advice would you give to other women interested in construction?

Don’t let any tell you that you can't do it.

Describe the kinds of opportunities in construction available to women?

There is nothing that a woman can’t do in construction.
