Need for Automation Drives CAD Market Growth

The global market for computer-aided design (CAD) in civil engineering and construction is expected to grow 9% from 2018 to 2022, driven by a need to automate the design process, according to a new Technavio report. Long gone are the days of drafting project drawings by hand. CAD tools aid drafters by allowing for more accuracy and precision which, in turn, benefits contractors by reducing the chance of design errors that require rework. Some have estimated that rework costs amount to as much as 5% of a contract's value, or $250,000 per every $5 million spent on the project."
