Job costing is a critical piece of the puzzle in construction accounting. Most companies have setup the job costing, but they haven't considered all factors of the equation. They don't properly account for labor hours by job, they lump all costs into direct costs instead of splitting them into indirect vs. direct or they have costs in the expenses when really they should be included in cost of goods sold."
